AHMEDABAD: Seven labourers were killed and one was injured after a scaffold crashed to the ground at a construction site on Wednesday morning. The accident, which exposes lack of safety measures, took place at the site near Gujarat University. Five of the labourers plunged down 13 floors, while three others fell from the fifth floor, according to police.

Police said that five labourers were plastering the wall of the elevator shaft on the 13th floor when the wooden plank they were standing on broke, plunging them straight to the basement. "On hearing the thud, three workers on the fifth floor ran to see what happened and they too fell into the shaft," said ACP L B Jhala of B Division of city police.

While there remain many unanswered questions, further clarity about the accident may only emerge after the injured labourer, Pankaj Kharadi, provides a detailed account, said sources. Kharadi is undergoing treatment at Sola Civil Hospital and his condition is said to be critical.

Gujarat University police late on Wednesday evening registered a case under the IPC section 304 (culpable homicide) and 114 (abetment) against contractor Saurabh Shah and two sub-contractors Dinesh Prajapati and Naimish Patel.

Inspector VJ Jadeja of Gujarat University police said that the contractor and his two sub-contractors endangered construction labourers' lives by not providing them with any safety tools.

The deceased labourers are Jagdish Nayak, 21, a resident of Samarkuva village of Panchmahal; Sanjay Babu Nayak, 20, and Ashwin Nayak, 20, both residents of Virol village in Devgadh Baria of Dahod; Sanjay Manga Nayak, 21, Shailesh Nayak, 19, and Mukesh Nayak, 26, residents of Vavkulli village in Panchmahal, and Rajmal Kharadi, 25, a native of Ganoda in Banswara in Rajasthan

Two people were killed in the crash of a seaplane in Dudinka

"Today, at about 11:00, a private seaplane crashed near the Lesobirzha industrial zone of the city of Dudinka in the Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory while taking off from the Dudinka River," the ministry said, adding that there were two people on board.

As specified in law enforcement agencies, two people were killed. The Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed this information.

CCTVs have caught the horrific visuals of a 21-year-old BBA student going on a killing spree in the early hours of Monday in Delhi's Janakpuri area.

The driver identified as Rishabh Rawat, was returning home after partying at his friend’s home in a Honda City registered in his father's name.

In less than a distance of 3 kms, Rawat mowed down three people, all of them who were out for morning walk.

His first victim was 40-year-old Kameshwar Prasad, a government employee. Prasad was struck so hard that he was thrown against a tree and then hit a wall, killing him on the spot.

Instead of slowing down after his first accident, Rawat continued speeding at over 100 km/h. Even as crowds started gathering near Prasad's body his car hit the second victim Santosh, who was cleaning a car. Despite suffering injuries in his abdomen and legs Santhosh survived.

Rawat, who was speeding down the wrong side of the road now, hit Ashwini Anand, 67. Anand was thrown against a car parked by the road and landed about 20 metres behind it.

His mad rampage ended when a police constable intercepted him and forced him out of his car.

Still under the influence of alcohol, Rawat reportedly demanded a cigarette lighter from the police constable and asked the police to get compensation for the victims from his father.

The alcohol level in his body was found to be 159 mgcc, against the legal limit of 30 mgcc, almost five times higher than the permissible limits.

"As soon as he got out of the car, he fell on the ground. I called up the police station and requested for backup,” Parvesh Kumar, the constable who intercepted Rawat said.

Rawat, the son of a Delhi businessman was arrested under sections 304 (culpable homicide) and 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of IPC and sent to Tihar Jail in judicial custody.

A disaster from heaven! Recently, a "death scene video" has gone viral on the Internet in Mainland China. A 50-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk and passing a house when she was suddenly hit in the head by rocks and feces falling from the sky. She fell to the ground unconscious. The woman traveling with her was panicked and checked her condition. Unfortunately, she eventually died of her injuries. The local police described it as an unfortunate accident. After investigation, it was found that the building involved had been vacant and unoccupied for a long time. Officials believed that the incident was an accident.

During the September 18th, 2016 Reno Air Race, two Formula One planes collided on the runway.

Thom “Hot Stuff” Richard noticed the engine of his aircraft (100hp Continental O-200 engine, the same engine that is used to power Cessna 150’s) was running poorly. He shut off his engine, opened his canopy and signaled to the flag man that he was unable to race. Unfortunately the Flag man was not able to signal the race starter in time. The 8 other planes in formation with him began the race, throttling up to take off. Because Formula One planes are taildraggers, Steve “Endeavor” Senegal, the pilot of the second, functional aircraft, did not see Thom Richard’s handicapped plane until it was too late. The collision ripped the canopy off of Thom’s plane, but the only injury was to Thom’s right hand. Steve and bystanders were uninjured.
